It has been an exciting few weeks into my appointment as Harrogate Hub Coordinator. The journey so far has been quite extraordinary – but why am I so surprised when we have such an amazing God who wants to bless this vision so much?
39 Oxford Street is being made ready for its purpose. Builders and engineers are redesigning the space to comply with regulations and make the Harrogate Hub a
place of welcome for everyone. Work begins in April and hopefully concludes by the end of May.
In the meantime branding and marketing take over; reaching out into our churches and local community for support, raising awareness, seeking volunteers and fundraising.
The Befriending Service
We are looking for some wonderful people with pastoral hearts who are called to being a Harrogate Hub pastoral carer/befriender. We will provide accredited training and ongoing support, looking after our volunteers.
Please contact me if you feel you would like to volunteer as a pastoral carer/befriender, as interview conversations will take place in May so that training can begin in June. If your heart is for your struggling neighbour battling with issues of loneliness, isolation, injustice, poverty, loss and grief, domestic violence, addictions … the list goes on, then please get in touch! ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.’ The needs in our community are great!
Can you give between 3 and 6 hours a week to seek out and support those who are suffering in our neighbourhood?
“Our aim is to serve our neighbours even though their language is different and they don’t believe what we believe. It is to be sacrificially loving. It is to win influence in society through service rather than power and control.”
We are uniting as one church across Harrogate, sharing resources because we can only be better together!
The Harrogate Hub will open soon. In the meantime please invite me to your church, group or gathering to share the vision and work of Harrogate Hub.
