Our Tapestry

Weaving our Tapestry

“For hundreds of years, Christinas have used tapestries, rich in symbolism, artistry and the power of storytelling, for more than just decoration.  They are ways of expressing spiritual truths in a visual and creative way.  Maybe our personal stories are just like a tapestry?

Each person’s experience, voice or background is like a single thread – unique in colour, texture and path.  On their own, threads may seem disconnected or incomplete.  But when threads are weaved, they cross paths to create something stronger and more beautiful together.  It requires time, trust and skill.

When you look at the back of a tapestry, it can seem chaotic – knotted, tangled, with threads crossing in ways that don’t make sense.   Likewise, when were in the middle of a story, we sometimes can only see pain, confusion, or unfinished threads.   From a human perspective, things can look messy or meaningless.  But the front of the tapestry reveals the true picture – a design full of beauty, intention and connection.

The finished piece tells the bigger story: not just about individuals, but about the interconnected whole – a picture you can’t see by looking at just one strand. Just as in a tapestry, some stories and bold and visible, others are subtle or hidden – but all are essential to the beautiful story that God is telling through our lives.

We are using this space to start sharing some of those threads – the stories local people have told us about where they’ve seen God at work in their lives.  As more threads are woven together, we hope a fuller picture will be revealed.”
