Youth Club

We are launching a new youth group at the Wesley Centre in Harrogate – a drop-in youth group aimed at creating a welcoming and safe space for young people in our community.

This group, designed for young people aged 11 to 17 years old, will take place every Friday during term time from 4pm to 6pm.

Our objective is to provide an inclusive environment where teenagers can unwind, make friends, and find peace through supportive relationship and genuine care.

We aim to meet young people where they are in life, offering them a space to explore questions about purpose, belonging, and hope without pressure or judgement. By fostering authentic connections, we hope to inspire a sense of community and personal growth among attendees. We believe this initiative will contribute positively to the local community by supporting young people emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

In the autumn we ran a small survey among local teenagers: when asked to name their biggest unmet need, 38% said “somewhere to hang out”; 20% said “opportunities to build friendship”; 18% said “a safe space to have conversation about mental health”. We hope this project will help to address some of the needs they have expressed.

Our aim is for young people to co-create the space with us. Some have already shared ideas for what they would like to see (hot chocolate, board games, space to talk) and we will continue to encourage them to influence and lead the development of the space.
