Joy in the City

Joy in the city
A Spirit-led day in Leeds

What an unforgettable day in Leeds! I was there with The David Movement who are all about extravagant worship and creativity in public spaces.  It never crossed my mind to do any kind of dance on the street. I don’t know how to dance, and honestly, I’m the worst when it comes to any kind of movement, completely uncoordinated! It was just the four of us and I thought, I’ll be praying, and if I get the opportunity to talk to people, I will.”   Others started to move and dance with giant flags, and I could see they were really enjoying it.

The city square was packed with people the entire time. We started just after Leeds won the game—can you imagine? The place was full of Leeds fans.

Then suddenly, I found myself moving around with a flag and even inviting people to join us.  So many people joined us, most of them young adults – they danced, waved flags and sang with us.  It turned out to be the best street evangelism experience I’ve ever had.

It was an amazing afternoon, and we absolutely loved it!  From people encountering Jesus in powerful ways to praying with those eager to explore faith, it was a day filled with divine moments. We saw hearts open, joy released, and freedom experienced, especially as people danced and celebrated together.

It was completely a Holy Spirit thing, we had so many beautiful opportunities to talk and share Jesus.  But honestly, it was also the weirdest thing I’ve ever done in my life!
